The agenda includes hearing a development application for an addition on 6 Clearwater Rd and review of the 2022 license renewal application for Saxton Falls Sand and Gravel.
Background: Saxton Falls was operating for 20 years without a license in violation of a 2000 ordinance requiring quarrying to be licensed. The quarry finally applied for a license in December 2020 but approval was delayed because the Township found out that the NJDEP had fined Saxton Falls $45,000 for bring unauthorized fill to the site in January 2021. Multiple temporary extensions were granted and the quarry has not completely finished removing the fill. The quarry borders the Musconetcong RIver which is protected by the Wild & Scenic RIver Act and is in the preservation area of the Highlands. The Highlands provides drinking water to 6.2 million people. See Mount Olive Chronicle Article-
