Next November, voters in Mount Olive will choose between Tom Malinowski and Republican and Tom Kean Jr. to represent the Seventh Congressional District. For me, and I hope for most residents, the choice is simple. Tom Malinowski has proven through his actions in Congress that he stands with working people in our community. He supported the Paycheck Protection Program, supporting over 135,000 jobs in our state. In addition, Tom brought home the Child Tax Credit, which delivered approximately $152 million in tax cuts to more than 81,000 families in New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District.
Meanwhile, the other Tom, Tom Kean Jr., is the son of Tom Sr., a man who was a popular governor in the 1980s, a time when, as a Republican, Kean Sr. earned 62 percent of the Black vote. That was certainly a long time ago. Junior Kean has strayed far from his father’s moderate, inclusive approach to governing. Instead, Junior has warmly embraced the extremists in the Republican party who deny the results of the presidential election and who voted against pandemic aid for New Jersey.
The choice between the two Toms is easy; the stakes could not be higher: Malinowski for Congress.
